Chelo

Downtown Roswell is already a wonderful beehive of activity but now adds a new flavor to the scene—a beautiful new Persian/Mediterranean spot called Chelo. Mediterranean is having a moment in the ATL, so many new spots are executing really beautiful flavors and presentations of this cuisine and the palates of the city are catching up. Chelo steps into that mix with great energy and cuisine.

Just a few steps off the bustling Canton Street, while Chelo's exterior is a dark brick box, the inside instantly feels light, airy, and organic with vegetation hanging from the ceiling and walnut floors and furniture. An open kitchen flanks one side and a gorgeous backlit bar with bottles of spirits reaches the ceiling. Cocktails, sangrias, and spritzers are flowing and the atmosphere has a fun, kinetic energy.

As far as the food it's all the Persian hits—starters like hot, housemade pita, hummus, falafel, baba ghanoush, tabbouleh. Entrees like Barg, Koobideh, and kabob, made with lamb, chicken and beef or seafood dishes like salmon, sea bass, prawns and bronzini. There are also 5 different kinds of rice to enjoy with your meal ranging from sweet to savory. All of the plates we tried were aesthetically gorgeous with explosive flavors and easily held could rank at the top of their category in the scene.

So Ramadan Mubarak to my Muslim friends out there and I hope you have a blessed month and check out Chelo as soon as you can!
